Best astrology books for beginners

If you want to start learning astrology, it can be difficult to choose your very first astrology book. The sheer amount of astrology books on the market can be downright overwhelming. How do you know if a book is all-encompassing and in-depth, but not too complex and understandable? I got you! The astrology books described below have my personal approval and are the ones I highly recommend to every astrology enthusiast. However, a word of caution must be mentioned here: chances are high that one of these books will be the start of a large collection!
1) Write Your Own Horoscope
Write Your Own Horoscope by Jane Struthers is the perfect book for the novice astrology enthusiast. This book covers the basics of astrology, shares insights into several areas of your life like relationships and finances and explains how you can use transits to map your future. Everything is written in a brief, but concise, no-nonsense manner. I absolutely love the way this book is designed and illustrated. Especially the watercolor illustrations are wonderful. Highly recommend!
This book is also available in Dutch.
2) You Were Born for This
You Were Born for This is written by the beloved astrologer Chani Nicholas. This book can be viewed as an introduction to astrology and mainly contains extensive, in-depth information about your Sun, Moon and Rising placements. It is extremely well written and even a great resource for professional astrologers. You will gain a lot of powerful insights about yourself for sure!
This book is also available in Dutch.
3) Astrology for Real Relationships
Jessica Lanyadoo is one of my favorite astrologers. Her beginner-friendly book Astrology for Real Relationships extensively covers all the planetary placements in the birth chart in the context of all kinds of relationships, including chosen family and non-monogamous relationships. This book is a great resource if you want to gain more insight into yourself, your loved ones and your relationships. Unfortunately, the ebook doesn’t do the wonderful illustrations and creative layout justice, so I highly recommend the paperback!
4) Astrology
Astrology by Carole Taylor is written for the serious astrology enthusiast. This book is quite thick and goes into great depth: in addition to the basics, even a short history of astrology and different types of transits are covered. However, everything is covered step by step and extremely comprehendible. The content is enhanced by infographics and a dynamic layout. The design and layout are not my personal taste, but I definitely wish I had this book when I first started learning astrology years ago!
This book is also available in Dutch.
