Venus is Retrograde in the sign of Capricorn from December 19, 2021 to January 29, 2022. When a planet is retrograde it means the planet appears to be moving backwards from earth’s point of view. In other words: the planet’s speed is changing, it’s slowing down. And when the planet slows down, we too must slow down. Therefore, retrogrades are times of great introspection and reflection.

Venus Retrograde

Venus Retrogrades occur every 18 months and last about 40 days. Venus is the planet that rules love, relationships, money, values and beauty. When Venus is retrograde we start reflecting on these topics. We start looking at what we value, in our personal life and in society, and we start exploring our needs. Venus Retrograde is also a terrible time to do things at the expense of our values and to spend money that we don’t have. Most importantly, Venus Retrograde exposes and magnifies aspects of yourself that are normally hidden. So during this period, we’re really asked to confront our shadows. Last but not least: when Venus is moving in reverse and we’re all about reflecting on our past actions, exes or old love interests may pop up in our lives… However, keep in mind that decisions made during the retrograde will not be final. The end of the retrograde will show the final fated outcome.

This Venus Retrograde remains in the sign of Capricorn throughout the whole retrograde. Capricorn is ruled by Saturn, the karmic parent of our solar system. 9th house: I’m rethinking what I want to explore in life and which beliefs I value. I’m learning new theories.

10th house: I’m rethinking my goals and occupation and what I value about a career. I’m learning how to deal with my responsibilities.

11th house: I’m rethinking my hopes and dreams and what I value in friends. I’m learning to blur my boundaries between lovers and friends.

12th house: I’m rethinking what I value about solitude and introspection. I’m learning how to heal.

Reflecting on Venus Retrograde

For me, this Venus Retrograde mainly falls in my 3rd house of communication. At the beginning of the retrograde, I ended up having small arguments with loved ones about my way of communicating. I realized how I was influenced by my parents’ way of communicating and how this was affecting my relationships. So as the retrograde progressed, I learned how to become a better communicator and listener by talking with loved ones about what we needed and valued in communication, and how we could find the middle ground.
